About Southwest Crop Protection

Southwest Crop Protection PL (SWCP) was founded in the year 2000 by Busselton locals, husband and wife team Josef and Hayley Otway.

SWCP are at the forefront in the Horticultural industry, offering the most up to date unique systems and solutions to WA’s commercial horticultural sector. We specialise in design, supply and install of protective canopies, reducing environmental impacts such as hail, sun, bird and wind to horticultural crops.

Based in Busselton for the past 24 years, SWCP services all across WA including the SW regions.

SWCP provides a number of products to improve chance of crop survival. We specialise in netting to help our customers improve their crop yield and therefore revenue.

We (Josef and Hayley) come from a horticultural background ourselves and know first hand the importance of producing quality crops and understanding operations from our clients perspective. In 2000 we decided to use our horticultural knowledge and start up a service based business, growing a steady client base over the 24 years, making SWCP the leaders in netting for WA.

At SWCP we pride ourselves in quality and professional installations. Our innovative equipment and methods allow us to create high quality structures that meet client needs, plus providing engineering specifications required to stand the test of time.

Engineered custom structure layout and design specific to each growers crops, land and environmental impact.

We source top quality engineered and rated materials and products from trusted suppliers, often collaborating with suppliers on new products.

Install

Our skilled tradesmen have the latest equipment and experience to install the highest standard crop protection. We pride ourselves with a safety first approach, ensuring we provide a safe working environment by training our staff to industry standards and identifying site specific challenges

The Finishing
Touches

SWCP can provide clients protective growing conditions, guaranteeing crops anywhere from under 1ha to 100ha of protection in one build. To date SWCP have covered more than 500ha in WA. To put this in perspective that’s more than 62 Optus stadiums.

We engage with the industry

SWCP are members of various horticultural committees helping us to understand customer needs and also allowing ourselves to give regular updates on what new services we can provide for industry group news letter and correspondence.

Attend regular trade shows throughout Australia, Hort Connections in Adelaide June 2023 and Protective Cropping Conference in Brisbane July 2023, Attended, exhibiting and speaking on Protective cropping at Western Australia Horticulture Update Trade show in Nov 2023. Trade shows are the best way in keeping up to date with suppliers and consultants with also promoting our services.

Collaborate with other industry companies offering alternatives in Protective Cropping by broadening, expanding our services to include glass houses and the new fully automotive cropping solutions. This will allow us to provide clients with more options for crop protection.

With our 24 years of experience, our knowledge of products and uses are often sort after by suppliers when developing new techniques and products. Often collaborating and RD with suppliers to custom products just for SWCP uses, making sure SWCP is always up to date.
